Figure 1. Carbon Sequestration in Madagascar. Madagascar, a country boasting extensive tropical forests and mangroves, has a large potential for carbon storage. As seen in the map, ACD (Above ground Carbon Density) and GPP (Gross Primary Production) are significantly high in Northern Madagascar. This area should be preserved to prevent carbon emissions that would be released if this area was to experience deforestation and to sequester further atmospheric carbon.
